Planned operation from EU-109
After problems trying to obtain permission to go to the island in 2008, I have approached the problem from a differrent angle. It is hoped that full permission for our expedition will be granted by spring 2009. We are asking for permission to operate over a 5 day period including the 2009 IOTA contest weekend. If it all comes together the team will be very satisfied

I have been in contact with Trinity House and National Trust and I can report that verbal permission has been granted for this DXpedition. However there is the thorny subject of land ownership, which in this case seems far from simple! I am currently waiting for investigtions by both parties in the hope that the issue can finally be settled and written approval given. 26th October 2008.
Over the Christmas 2008 period, I have received news that progress has been made regarding land ownership. I have submitted this information to Trinity House and await further decision from the Legal Dept

I have today received an e-mail from Trinity House stating that they are not willing to grant us permission to erect a mast for our planned 5 day operation this year as they plan to upgrade facilities on the site within the next few years. I will explore other avenues in an attempt to actviate this island group

The Local National Trust Manager has agreed to consider a request from us for a daytime only operation after the Bird Breeding season ends in mid September. It is my hope that we will be able to operate for 2 or 3 full day sessions using SSB, CW and possibly RTTY and PSK31

IOTA Contest 2008
My planned activation of EU-109 had to be postponed however I was able to join the G2F team and so got my fix of IOTA for the year. As I only ever take part in the low power DXpedition class it was a real experience to have an opportunity to operate alongside experienced contesters using maximum legal power and great antennae (Spiderbeam) . Thanks guys.

Unexpected activations
13th June 2007
On 13th June 2007, I unexpectedly had to travel across to EU-038 Terschelling Island in the North Dutch Islands Group. After work and before collapsing into my bunk, I activated the island for 50 minutes on 20M, To all of you with whom I had a QSO, thank you, QSL cards have been prepared and will go to the RSGB Buro within a few days. The great thing about this short period of time was the fact that I also got two new IOTA islands and 3 new DXCC entities incl my first JA and HL The way things are going at the moment I have more chance of acheiving DXCC 100 signing PA/M0OVL/M than using my home call.
And some people say Amateur Radio is boring !!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!
