As of 29/05/08, it appears that I now have permission for this planned operation. Subject to final approval. Full info to follow shortly.
I had originally planned a holiday to enable me to get back up to Scotland but I will not be able to get enough time to complete the journey, Therefore I have deceided to look closer to home. My roving eye has landed on Longstone Island in the Farne Island Group EU-109. I have now submitted a formal request to the landowner for permission. I tried last year unsucesfully to go onto the Inner Islands. I hope that I might be more lucky this time. If successful this activation will also cover the Longstone Lighthouse. Even if permission is granted then a final decision rests with the boat skipper and the weather conditions on the day.In the event of cancelation, the fallback will be Lindisfarne EU120, but this is a last resort and I would not be able to enter the expedition class.!!!!!

22/05/08 I chased up my request for permission and found that it had not been forwarded to the responsible person. That person has requested I e-mail him directly and I hope to get a quick response.

Unexpected activations
13th June 2007
On 13th June 2007, I unexpectedly had to travel across to EU-038 Terschelling Island in the North Dutch Islands Group. After work and before collapsing into my bunk, I activated the island for 50 minutes on 20M, To all of you with whom I had a QSO, thank you, QSL cards have been prepared and will go to the RSGB Buro within a few days. The great thing about this short period of time was the fact that I also got two new IOTA islands and 3 new DXCC entities incl my first JA and HL The way things are going at the moment I have more chance of acheiving DXCC 100 signing PA/M0OVL/M than using my home call.
And some people say Amateur Radio is boring !!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!
