Links Page
It
is impossible to list all the links I have discovered over the past
couple years so I have deceided to aim the list at newcomers to the
hobby in the hope that they find the information useful. The links are
not in any order. If you know of a site that you think should be
listed, then please let me know. Thank you
QRZ.com
This is
the definitive Amateur Radio site. Look up address' for QSL cards. Find
out about other operators. Many links to other sites of interest
Worked All Britain
This is a group dedicated to working all areas of the United Kingdom. Based
on the Ordanace Survey grid reference system, the awards offer
opportunities for mobile and portable operations as well as home based
operations. Nets run on a daily basis. New members are always made very
welcome and the nets are often very informal unless a is activating
areas. The awards are suitable for both experienced and newly licensed
operators as well as overseas stations. The group also supports light
house and SOTA activators. in other words, all are welcome.
RSGB (Radio Society of Great Britain)
Although there are many other clubs, societies and
special interest groups within the hobby the RSGB is the
internationally recognised body for British Radio Amateurs. Some love
it, some hate it, my opinion for what it is worth, is that we should
all join and then if we disagree with something, we put ourselves up
for election and change the decision. The other benefits of membership
include full use of the QSL Bureau and a monthly magazine Radcom
IOTA (Islands on theAir)
Practical Wireless
This in my opinion is a very useful publication which
appeals equally to newcomers and experienced operators and well worth a
look
SOTA (Summits on the Air)
I thought I would include this group as there are many
younger people joining the hobby. If wandering up hills and mountains
is your thing go take a look. Mountain goats welcome!
BARLS
(British Amateur Radio Lighthouse Society)
RCQ Communications
Looking for a pre owned radio (thats second hand to us
retail dinosaurs) There are many places to go. This is one I can
recommend from personal experience.
